The Victorian Government has been busily removing railway level crossings over the past few years, including nine along the Cranbourne / Pakenham rail lines between Caulfield & Dandenong.
Sections of elevated rail have been built along this corridor, with the open space created underneath dedicated to public and community use, including cycling tracks, playgrounds and sporting facilities.
Advanced Lighting Technologies supplied the Cree OSQ High Output LED Area/Flood Light to illuminate several multi-purpose sporting courts and surrounding areas along the rail line in Clayton.
Backlight shields were used to minimise obtrusive light and reduce any impact on train drivers and neighbouring properties.
Smaller and lighter than other LED solutions, the Cree OSQ High Output Series has changed the standard for high-output illumination.
Challenges:
- Minimise Obtrusive Light From Reaching Nearby Residents
- Minimise Distracting Glare For Train Drivers
- Height Limits Dictated Shorter Poles Than Usual Be Used
Results:
- Enhance Feeling Of Security And Safety At Night
- Minimal Light Spill
- Smaller & Lighter Than Other High Output Solutions
